In addition to swimming duties, Greensboro will host the 2022 D3 outdoor track & field championships, the D3 men's soccer championships from 2018-2021, and Division I basketball regionals in 2019 and 2020. In all, between the Division I, II and III levels, Pittsburgh was awarded 22 preliminary and final rounds of NCAA competitions, the most of any city. Tulsa is the site for first- and second-round NCAA tournament men's basketball games in 2019.
The Grand Strand this year played host to a pair of ACC championships after the NCAA removed them from the state of North Carolina because of the controversial House Bill 2, legislation that drew much criticism, particularly from the LGBT community.
The championship game first came to Sporting Kansas City's stadium in 2013 and a snowstorm and blustery weather in last December's game didn't deter the NCAA from returning to the site of Northwest Missouri State's last two national championships.
"It is an incredible opportunity to have the NCAA Championships in the city of Pittsburgh", Pitt head coach and 2008 NCAA Champion Keith Gavin said.
The 2019 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships are coming to PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh. Though the University of Nebraska-Lincoln does not sponsor ice hockey, it submitted a bid to host the event at CenturyLink Center.
The NCAA Division III women's golf championship will be hosted by Shenandoah in 2022.
"We're excited to join such great partners in welcoming these NCAA national championships to the Lancaster area", stated Discover Lancaster President Kathleen Frankford. The Randal Tyson Track Center will welcome back the NCAA Men's and Women's Track and Field Championships on March 12-13, 2021.
"We are proud of a long history of hosting NCAA events in Sacramneto", said Mike Sophia, director of the Sacramento Sports Commission. Hilton Coliseum in Ames will host a 2019 regional, Mizzou Arena in Columbia in 2021 and Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City in 2022.
