New Baywatch clips wash up in the surf

Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock is the lead actor in the film Baywatch. Low-hanging fruit include distracting the villain by dancing amusing; the not-so-bright heartthrob; and jokes about male and female anatomy (the movie even blatantly rips off the zipper scene from "There's Something About Mary").

Lt. Mitch Buchannon (Dwayne Johnson) is the leader of Emerald Bay's lifeguard team, known as Baywatch.

But the hunky star has reassured Baywatch fans that there will definitely be lots of slow motion running across the beach in swimwear, a trademark of the original telly series.

It's a routine plot, perhaps worthy of a one-hour TV show, but like most franchise reboots of late - CHiPs, 21 Jump Street - this iteration of Baywatch amps up the raunch and drops F-bombs like someone told the screenwriters they had to meet a quota.

"We're bringing Baywatch across the planet to a country near you", Efron teased.

The film now has a low rating of 14%, on Rotten Tomatoes which shows the awful crash of the film at the Box Office.

Don't worry, we wish we lived in a Baywatch America too. If there were any weaknesses to the cast, surprisingly it may be Efron and Johnson.

There's the brunette (Alexandra Daddario) who looks good in a swimsuit, the blonde (Kelly Rohrbach) who looks good in a swimsuit and the other brunette (Ilfenesh Hadera) who looks good in a swimsuit. I mention all of this in the interest of accurate journalism. The show about crime fighting lifeguards made Pamela Anderson a star and was a monster television hit any numerous countries catching the eyes of many young boys and their dads. Jokes about the crew only being lifeguards are beat into the ground over and over again.

Matt is vain, reckless, selfish and quite dim. The actress had revealed in an interview that she was excited to play a negative character in her debut Hollywood film. "He's one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet, so it's that much more fun to have him play a cocky [jerk] and mix it up with him".

There's actually a sweetness that makes "Baywatch" rise above the tide of recent gross-out junk like "CHIPS" and Efron's 2016 mess "Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates".

Along with promoting her "silly, fun summer movie", Priyanka is more than excited to return to work on her show "Quantico", which was just renewed for a third season.

Lemons don't make for lemonade. We worked hard to find the right balance.
