Memorial Day services planned

Pastor Elmer Armijo of Grant United Methodist Church will be giving the invocation and benediction and Denise Johnson will be this year's guest speaker.

The Thermopolis VFW will be hosting a breakfast at 10 a.m., with a ceremony following at 11 the Monument Hill Cemetery, and at 11:30 the Riverside Cemetery, with a wreath laying.

The memorial service will start at 1 p.m. Glen Gindler, commander of Troy American Legion Post 708, will give the opening welcome. Following the Mass, all are welcome at the Catholic War Veterans Post Hall at 18 West 23rd St. for coffee and light refreshments.

Memorial Day service, 10 a.m., Crystal Lake Cemetery, 360 SW Avery Ave., Corvallis. The parade will proceed east onto Prendergast Ave. and continue north until it arrives at Lakeview Cemetery, where a Memorial Day service will then take place at Soldiers Circle.

In Ishpeming, services will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery at 10 a.m.

Across Warren County this weekend, local citizens and visitors will be gathering along sidewalks to witness the pageantry and patriotism of Memorial Day parades - then attending accompanying ceremonies that honor US soldiers who have sacrificed their lives for the nation. (In the event of rain, event will be held inside the American Legion.) Featuring the Legion Honor Guard and Auxiliary, Boy and Girl Scouts and music by the Scott Highland Middle School band and the Velvet Tones.

The Sparta Township Historical Commission will hold their Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 29, at 10:30 Lamoreaux Memorial Park, 150 Park St, in Sparta. It will begin at 1 p.m. and will last approximately 35-45 minutes.

People interested in volunteering should show up 9 a.m. Saturday at the Civil War Memorial at Mountain View Cemetery.

The Sand Lake/Cedar Springs Tri-Corner Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #7912 will have ceremonies on Monday, May 29.

FALCONER - The village of Falconer will host its Memorial Day parade Monday.

Bangor's service to honor those who have fallen in combat begins at 9 a.m. Monday in the Bangor Middle/High School gymnasium, 700 10th Ave.
