Wonder Woman shattered box office expectations and records with a $100.5 million opening weekend, making it the highest domestic opening for a female director.

"Wonder Woman", which starred Gal Gadot and Chris Pine, grossed a total of $223 million in worldwide sales. While it's not as big as the opening weekend for Man of Steelor Deadpool, it easily surpasses Doctor Strangeand the first Iron Man, Thor and Captain Americamovies.

Director Patty Jenkins admits she was not initially thrilled about actress Gal Gadot being chosen for the role of Wonder Woman.

The newly released Wonder Woman has done what Baahubali 2: The Conclusion did - it surprised everyone with the kind of box office collections it managed to garner, something that most filmmakers can only dream of.

Although the bitter taste of "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" still lingers in my mouth, DC's release of "Wonder Woman" more than makes up for their past misfires. For all of the reports of extensive reshoots on studio tentpoles, Jenkins added just one new scene after she wrapped production in November 2015. We don't know much yet about the narrative, but we do know that Wonder Woman 2 will take place in the present day (Wonder Woman is set during World War I). It earned $122.5 million internationally, including $38 million in China. "On wide shots I looked very amusing, like Wonder Woman pregnant with Kermit the Frog".

As per Warner Bros, the film has amassed Rs 7.40 crore (net) in its opening weekend in India.

Wonder Woman was originally supposed to have been directed by Michelle MacLaren, who backed out after creative differences with Warner Bros. I made Wonder Woman. Mjolnir then found its way to Wonder Woman, whose pure power of love made her worthy to lift up the hammer.
