Search for Mexico quake survivors continues as death toll hits 273

Seismologists say it's unlikely that Tuesday's quake is related to the 8.1-magnitude one that shook the country september 8, since they struck hundreds of miles apart and occurred weeks, not minutes, apart.

During Naomi's funeral, Gonzalez pleaded to help the girl's family, now that her father's health is in serious condition and it is unknown if he has totally gone out of risk.

As Mexico City residents and emergency responders continue to search for trapped survivors following Tuesday's devastating natural disaster, one story in particular has captured the world's attention - that of a supposed 12-year-old girl who rescuers spotted wiggling her fingers from her entrapment inside a Mexico City elementary school. Adm. Jose Luis Vergara told Foro TV on Thursday that they believed at least one girl was trapped alive in the rubble. While some have thanked her for her contribution, others have demanded that Frida replace the famous Mexican artist Frida Kahlo's image on the 500-peso note.

She had even been named, as "Frida Sofia", although some elements differed, such as her age, which ranged from 6 to 12, and no one could locate her parents.

Her credits for the most recent disaster has not been tallied yet, said Navy Captain Armando Segura, because she is still busy trying to save lives.

But by Thursday afternoon, the naval official Angel Enrique Sarmiento said all the school's children had been accounted for and there was no student in the rubble. "But now, we don't know what is the reality", said one firefighter still in shock, in a testimony reported by Europe 1. And when they lowered a camera into the rubble of the school, it showed blood tracks where an injured person appeared to have had crawled on. "And you still hear people in there", rescue worker Evodio Dario Marcelino told AP. "As long as there is the slightest possibility of someone alive, we will continue searching with the same energy", he was quoted by the Associated Press as saying.

Twitter aficionadas of Frida have been praising her courageousness. Eleven children were found alive and 19 of them had died.

Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto said late Wednesday night the top priority is finding survivors.
