Jennifer Lopez Donates $1 Million to Puerto Rico Following Hurricane

Lopez demonstrated her allegiance to her Puerto Rican roots by making a big announcement on Sunday regarding the hurricane-ravaged island.

Due to Puerto Rico's ongoing economic recession, the island imports around 85 percent of its food for consumption, the Times said. She also took to Instagram asking for help from her followers to spread the word about providing aid for the island in light of Hurricane Maria's aftermath.

"If there's anything we learned from recent natural disasters like hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria, it's that government support is just not enough and will likely never be".

With the help of Mark Cuban and J.J. Barea, Lopez also said she has filled two airplanes with necessities and generators ready to fly to the island. As reported by TMZ, Jennifer Lopez is going to donate a million dollars to help the island, where still lives a part of his family.
