Pedro Baez makes the cut as Dodgers, Diamondbacks set rosters for NLDS

We're parsing a small sample to begin with, but dig a bit deeper, and you'll find that in his three starts this year as a member of the Diamondbacks, he went 2-0 with a 3.24 ERA and 17 strikeouts in 16 2/3 innings. He finished the night 3-4 with a walk and five runs batted it, more than half of Los Angeles' total runs! It was the shortest postseason start in D-backs' history, two innings shorter than three-inning stints turned in by Joe Saunders in Game 4 of the 2011 NLDS against Milwaukee and two three-inning starts by Albie Lopez in the 2001 postseason.

With the victory, the Dodgers took a 1-0 lead in this of five National League Division Series.

Now, because both Ray and Zack Greinke pitched in Arizona's 11-8 win over the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday, neither pitcher will be available for Game 1 of the NL Division Series on Friday.

"He's one of the elite pitchers in the National League", Dodger manager Dave Roberts said.

It's great to hit home runs off of Kershaw, but he is more than willing to give up runs that way rather than a crooked number from a string of singles an offense puts together against him. Most of the fans that spoke with Eyewitness News said they had faith in star pitcher Clayton Kershaw.

But now we get to the "very talented" part. Taijuan Walker labored through a 48-pitch first inning, issuing four hits and two walks as the Dodgers worked up to a four-run lead. I say "quietly" because there was no three-run home run involved, and definitely no tongues involved.

"There's familiarity, but I think there's hopefully a lot of respect", Goldschmidt said.

Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo produced RBI singles in the sixth inning for the first two hits off an otherwise-dominant Strasburg.

If the Dodgers could have chosen one team to avoid in the postseason it probably would have been the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Kershaw mostly cruised through six innings, giving up a solo homers to A.J. "The biggest thing is controlling our emotions and taking it one pitch at a time".

Los Angeles added a couple insurance runs in the eighth inning: A Corey Seager triple down the right-field line scored Austin Barnes, and Turner provided his fifth RBI of the game with a single.

"No regrets whatsoever", he said.

The Diamondbacks have not named a starter for Game 2, while the Dodgers will go with Rich Hill in that game.
